Last Minute Halloween Costumes That Aren’t The Slutty Pumpkin
“You know what I love about Halloween? It's the one night of the year chicks use to unleash their inner ho-bag. If a girl dresses up as a witch, she's a slutty witch. If she's a cat, she's a slutty cat…” - Barney Stinson, How I Met Your Mother
For the How I Met Your Mother fans out there, you’re familiar with the man-whore himself, Barney Stinson and how he (thinks) he knows females better than most women do. You’re also familiar with Ted’s quest every year for his romanticized crush that he saw once at a Halloween party; “the slutty pumpkin.” While this article is not a Cliff Notes version of How I Met Your Mother, it is, in a way, about the slutty pumpkin. There’s a certain mindset that girls are supposed to take a normal costume and turn it into something out of a lingerie ad. Let’s trick the Barney Stinsons of the world this year and get back to the basics of Halloween. Let's have fun with our costumes! For those procrastinators out there (I personally prefer the night before or day of), I’m here to show you some easy, last minute ideas that could be your best look yet.
Own a black dress? Probably. All you need to do for this look is take some extra black fabric, cut the bottom design to give the wing look. Throw on a headband with some ears added to it, your LBD and black shoes and you’re done.
.Pair some ripped jeans with an old shirt that you can slash, slap some bad makeup on your face and you’ve got a great look.
Hilarious and super simple. Black skirt, cut up white tank top, colored sports bra and a cardigan (burn book optional).
Not too complicated and everyone’s favorite character. A beanie, stapler, pipe-cleaners, scissors and creativity is all you need.
My favorite Disney princess is easy to recreate without buying the yellow ball gown. Go the casual Belle route with any blue dress, white button-down shirt, flats and a few books and be a princess for the night.
Thing 1 or Thing 2
Forget the red bodysuit and blue crazy hair and take a more simple approach with a red shirt or dress, red shoes and blue hair dye or a blue headband. Add the Thing 1 or Thing 2 logo to your chest and you’re done.
I’ve personally pulled this off successfully. The good thing about this is it can be done individually or with friends. Like the Thing 1 and Thing 2 idea, find a colored shirt of dress and take some tape and make a M on your chest. It’s that easy.
Chip On Your Shoulder
Self-explanatory (once you explain it), comical and CHEAP.
It’s Raining Men
Who doesn’t want to go to a Halloween party with all of your celebrity crushes? Rain boots, a jacket, umbrella, some string, tape and a few beautiful men sounds like a great idea to me.
